spring nail trends 2013

When it comes to following trends, I definitely like to take whats hot at the moment and mix it in with my usual style. I don't like to follow things blindly (For instance, apparently short suits are in this season? Thanks but no thanks.) However, when it comes to the hot nail colors, while I definitely have my staples (Just like every other girl on Long Island) I'm always willing to at least give the new trends a try! Here's what's looking hot this season that I'm most excited about:

 Pastels {Zoya, Butter, Essie}

Pastels are ALWAYS a staple of the spring, and that goes even more so this season! Besides adding little additions into my wardrobe, I'm so excited to rock some of these colors on my hands!

Nudes are always a staple but with the apparent death of nail art they are back this season in a big way, but with some twists with some tans, cocoas, and metallic finishes.

To help ease everyone in from winter to spring, instead of breaking out the bright red start with a coral!

I'm really excited to try out all of these colors in the next few months! What spring nail colors are you most excited about?

wednesday wants

As I had mentioned in my first post, I'm really into making lists. I've decided that every Wednesday I'm going to make a list of the 5 things I really want right now!

{Frock Candy}
I'm always looking for fun colored pants, and I'm loving floral for spring.

    {Gap}

Boyfriend jeans are the perfect relaxed choice for any spring weekend. I'm picturing this with a nice big sweater and a collared shirt underneath with my comfy Toms!

{Urban Outfitters}
 In addition to the fact I'm adoring the style of this dress, I'm really excited to rock some coral for spring.
I have to admit, ever since The Hills (I wasn't into Laguna Beach nearly as much!) I've been bitten by the Lauren Conrad bug. While Kohl's isn't normally my first choice for shopping, I'm LOVING her spring collection. Particularly this dress (which LC herself can be seen wearing in the April issue of Redbook)
{Michael Kors}
I never said Wednesday Wants needed to be practical. I already have a silver MK watch. But in a fantasy world where I'm rich, I have a second one in gold.

All of this writing as gotten me bitten by the shopping bug. Where's the nearest mall!? What are YOU wanting this Wednesday?

mint + mustaches

Sometimes, when the hectic daily grind can seem to be a lot, there's nothing like a relaxing weekend of not much that can make things feel just right. After a great night on Friday out with my friends Saturday and Sunday were much more low key. Saturday was spent relaxing in with my boyfriend and we (he) created the greatest little dinner time treat. We called them Buffalo Chicken Pockets.

There is something so simple and delicious about the combination of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, chicken, hot sause, and a fun array of cheese. It was really the perfect dinner for a Saturday night in.

Sunday was spent with my family as a celebration of my mother's birthday. Since I was just starting this blog, I wanted to show off my brand new Old Navy sweater. It's sporting polka dot and mint, both of which I'm very into right now. While hoping I would get the perfect "trendy" angle for a picture to feature my new frock, the best shot of the day is this:

Sometimes there's no better definition of "Sunday Funday" then an afternoon (into evening, my family likes to spend a lot of time together!) just spending some quality time with your loved ones. A number of things today have reminded me of how special and scared the bond of love is and while it may sound cheesy, John Lennon really did say it best.

All you need is love.

Here it goes..

I'm not sure what compelled me to start a blog, and I'm not sure if I'll ever even make it public. For now it's an experiment to see if a) I can keep this up, since I tend to quit a lot of projects I try and b) if I'm any good at this blogging thing.

I'm going to start this off with three things. I'm good at lists, it keeps my thoughts and my days organized. Otherwise this post (and the rest of my life) would fall into anarchy.

  • I get a lot of manicures and pedicures with work, call it spoiled but it is a fantastic perk I am more than willing to embrace. This color is Essie Lady Like, and apparently my grandmother is also a fan and currently sporting the color. I like to think style is hereditary.
  • I love this watch. MK is classic, and there is nothing more to say about that. When I'm rich I'll by like 10 more in different colors and styles.
  • I love doing yoga, which has proven to be difficult as I never seem to have time to get my butt to a studio so sometimes I try to create a makeshift studio in my basement by creating a nice ambiance and my All-In Yoga iPhone app, which creates programs and even lets me make my own.
That's it for post attempt once, until next time.
