lions and tigers and bears - oh my!

WOW! What a great weekend! Definitely one for the books.

First, Friday was a laid back kind of night just watching TV, which is sometimes just necessary after a long week.

Saturday, Bryan and I relaxed and watched movies most of the day, but we also made an epic lunch of Buffalo Chicken Quesadillas and Wraps!

They were absolutely wonderful.

Later that night was my friend Julie's birthday party.

We spent time in Huntington, Long Island and had dinner at Porto Fino and drinks at Christopher's, both of which were absolutely wonderful!

While most of the group had what I heave heard were delicious cupcakes for dessert, Bryan and I, along three of our friends went to Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream, which was a perfectly delicious choice.

But the real highlight of the weekend was a trip to the Bronx Zoo on Sunday.

It's one of those places that as a New Yorker, I know is always there, but I don't take advantage of nearly enough.

It was just the perfect day, the weather was perfect, the group was perfect, and the zoo was perfect.

Definitely a weekend to remember, and a perfect kick off to the warm beautiful weekends to come.

And what did YOU do this weekend?

outfit of the day - new skirt for spring

Today is one of those days where the weather is a little bit iffy, and it begs the question about whether or not a skirt is appropriate.

Now that we're well into April, I've sworn off tights until the fall, so I need to be really careful selecting days on which I wear a skirt or dress.

Today was a questionable day, but it didn't matter.

As I noted in my last Wednesday Wants, I was craving this teal lace skirt from Loft.

Lo and behold, my grandmother sent it to me out of nowhere.

EPIC. And very thoughtful.

And of course I had to try it out as soon as possible!

So overall, it goes without saying that I love the spring.

outfit of the day - new pants for spring

Last week during a lunch break, I took a MUCH needed shopping trip to the Gap and got some new goodies for Bryan and I.

There are fewer things that make me happier than wearing new clothes for the first time.

Today, I'm sporting my new Gap tee and lilac cropped pants. A fun look for spring that I was so excited to rock.

For this first time, and mostly due to the still very chilly weather, I'm trying it out with a black cropped blazer and nude pumps. A fun look, for sure!

I have a lot of blazers, 3 black and 2 others, but this one is my favorite. I feel like it's an easy piece to turn a relaxed outfit into a more classic look.

I'm loving these pants and I am excited to wear them throughout the spring!

weekend cooking love

Another laid back and wonderful weekend is in the books!

Friday night was another relaxing movie night with Bryan - sometimes extremely necessary after a long week of work!

Saturday was a laid back sort of day. Spent most of the day watching TV (including the Louis CK Oh My God HBO special. And if you haven't seen it, please find it online because it's pretty AWESOME!)

That night was a friends' birthday at Dave and Buster's, which is definitely a nice alternative to the usual scene. It was a great group of people and a relaxed atmosphere.

Literally perfect.

Yesterday, Bryan and I put our chef skills to the test trying out a Skillet Chicken and Ravioli recipe we found in Food Network Magazine.

We left out the mushrooms entirely because neither of us are fans, and subbed the parmesan for heaps of mozzarella.

It was absolutely perfect!

Next weekend is going to be a little more hectic, but I'm ready to grab the bull by the horns!

And how was YOUR weekend?

what i wore to work

I'm so excited to be linking up with Mix and Match Fashion for the "What I Wore to Work" link up today!

We're now at that point in the year where everyone has spring fever and is ready to break out their "warmer weather" wardrobe, but the temperatures are so unreliable at the moment, teetering between being dress-without-tights appropriate and not.

Since I've officially sworn off tights until the fall, I've been stuck wearing jeans at work all week.

Luckily, I have a job where this is acceptable.

I LOVE every opportunity I have to wear this white blouse with the gold studded cut out shoulders.

The blouse, necklace and earring combination was a Christmas gift from my sister, and are all from Forever 21. I love wearing them together every chance I get.

The gold Tory Burch flats were also a Christmas gift from my parents, so of course my first thought was to pair them all together.

Add in a pair of black jeans and we're talking perfection!

wednesday wants - skirts

Spring has officially sprung here in New York!

While I've already listed some great dresses I have my eye on in a past Wednesday Wants, this week I'm going to celebrate another item that I'm all ready to sport with bare legs.

Skirts!

{Loft}
This skirt combines a lot of things I'm loving this season: floral print, lace, and a perfect shade of green for spring.

In other words, sign me up!

{Target}
I would love to add a neutral maxi skirt to my collection, and when it comes to the basics, Target is always on the mark.

{Anthropologie}
With polka dots making a huge impact this spring, and yellow being the perfect bright addition to any spring wardrobe, I may need to get my hands on this one from Anthropologie!

{Old Navy}
 As I've mentioned before, stripes are very trendy in a big way right now. This pencil skirt is stylish, practical, and on top of that, completely affordable.

{LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's}

I always adore every piece in Lauren Conrad's Kohl's collection, and this skirt is no exception. I love the intense detail in the beading, the great price, and the fun romantic color that is just perfect for spring!

Are you excited to show off some fun skirts for spring?

And which ones are on YOUR want list?

warmer weather loving

Hi everyone!

So I'm sorry that I've fallen off of the blogosphere for the past few days. With the combination of allergy season getting the best of me (who else is a victim?!) and work piling up, it had gotten slightly difficult to keep up the momentum that I had worked so hard to build up.

But now I'm back! and now I'm ready to EMBRACE, rather than dread, the warm and wonderful weather that has finally come upon us, because of the sniffles it gave me.

Last Tuesday was beautiful here in New York City, and I was more than ready to celebrate!

This outfit made me really excited for a couple of reasons.

One, it has three of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe - my chambray shirt, my leopard belt, and my nude pumps!
Two, it's the first time of 2013 that I've been able to sport a skirt with no tights! Sure my legs could have used some color (I personally LOVE Nivea Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs) but besides that, I'd call the outfit a great success!
